Our Commitment to Social Responsibility

At Team Building Asia, corporate social responsibility means a commitment to maintaining a sustainable environment and giving back to the community. We have been a carbon neutral company since 2009 and consistently look for opportunities to interact with community groups and non-profit organisations. One of our most popular programme series, CSR Elements, incorporates aspects of events-based team building with training and development programmes to help our clients raise community awareness to their teams.

Environmental Stewardship

Team Building Asia has been certified by Greenmyplanet as a Carbon Neutral Company since 2009. To achieve this, the company's carbon footprint was measured, followed by a structured process to reduce our footprint as much as possible. Finally, we offset the unavoidable CO2 emissions through purchasing carbon credits investing directly in sustainable energy programmes as accredited by governing bodies, such as Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), the Gold Standard and the Climate Action Reserve (CAR), to name a few .

Community Involvement

Team Building Asia is proud to support several community efforts in Asia Pacific. Organisations like the Child Welfare Scheme Nepal and Operation Santa Claus have garnered recognition from HKCSS (link). We will continue to support charities by providing customised training programmes and projects and are always looking for partner organizations.

Here are a few examples of our previous pro bono work:

  • Community Business – Engage

ENGAGE Journey of Opportunity Programme aims to motivate and inspire young people in one of Hong Kong’s poorest communities to take advantage of the opportunities available to them for further education and employment This year, Community Business, the Hong Kong partner of ENGAGE, invited Team Building Asia to run Our Photo and Flat Out Pyramid programme to strengthen the trust and mutual respect between a group of youths and their respective mentor volunteers from various corporate member companies.

  • KELY Support Group

KELY Support Group empowers young people to help themselves through the provision of peer support and positive contact with other young people.  Team Building Asia ran a session to aid the strategic development of the Office Staff and Outreach Workers to continue to provide cutting edge services to young people in Hong Kong.

  • WWF

Team Building Asia worked with WWF on a complimentary customized programme as part of the NGO’s own corporate social responsibility commitment.  Each year, WWF Hong Kong holds its one day All Staff Gathering for the entire branch.  In 2010, we ran the BeatsWork programme for the group to provide an upbeat morning activity that works on specific goals and has a low carbon footprint to comply with its internal sustainability guidelines.

  • Project Share

Project Share is a HK non-profit organisation and its mission is 'Connecting and Empowering Hong Kong Youth.'  Once a month, Project Share holds a full-day workshop for up to forty youth from the focus areas to develop core skills, focusing on communications, reliability, teamwork and leadership.  Last year, Project Share engaged Team Building Asia to deliver the Colours Test and Jumbo Lego for a group of youths with grassroots background to improve the understanding of self and others and highlight the importance of communication.

Team Building Asia has supported UNHCR since 2006 by providing annual team building programmes as part of their strategic planning. UNHCR focuses on the humanitarian aspects of providing support to those in need, which parallels our strong belief in service and dedication. Team Building Asia is committed to continue supporting UNHCR and related projects.

  • Hong Kong Anti-Drug Campaign, 2010

Team Building Asia is proud to be the chosen facilitator for the mural painting activity in the Anti-Drug Heroes campaign 2010, organised by the Narcotics Division of the Security Bureau, together with Yahoo! Hong Kong and HKFYG, in support of promoting anti-drug messages and greater awareness of drug vices. The huge art installation is now on display at the Hong Kong Jockey Club Drug Info Centre in Admiralty for public viewing.

  • Breast Cancer Foundation – Singapore

Breast Cancer Foundation (BCF) is on a mission to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease. To support BCF, Team Building Asia donated team-building programmes for auction in 2008 and 2009 at the Key Media HR Awards in Singapore to raise SGD20,000 for Breast Cancer Foundation.

  • Enlighten - Action for Epilepsy

Enlighten-Action for Epilepsy is a non-government registered charitable organization that aims to benefit anyone directly or indirectly affected by Epilepsy by providing complimentary, specialised advice, support, community education, training and awareness programmes. In December 2010, we held Enlighten’s first Team Building Day supported by Team Building Asia.
